My mum and dad drove us to Milngavie where we met our bag carriers - AMS. Lesson 1 from Scott, do not attempt to carry all your possessions on the way. Apparently between 40-50 thousand people attempt to do the West Highland Way every year and only about 15 thousand complete it...gulp! Once we'd dropped off our bags we met up with Lachie MacLeod, the man behind Something For Romania, just to remind us that it was all for a good cause - despite the rain! By the time we'd had our 'photo shoot' and toilet stop, we set off at about 930am.
Milngavie
Proudly doing it for Something For Romania, please forgive my dad's dodgy camera work
About 5 miles up the road and we're pretty soaked, although the worst was yet to come, we just didn't take any pictures during the really wet bit.
Wet lands ahead - Arlehaven, near Dumgoyach Farm.
Reaching Gartness the sun came out to meet us, as did this little guy.
10 miles down, 2 miles till lunch.
This is the field near Drymen where we stopped to have our lunch at 145pm. It was a welcome break after having walked 12 miles non stop through the rain.
Happy to be sitting, but not for long. Shortly after this photo was taken we realised that it is not good to stop, we ceased up big time and struggled to get back into the swing of it.
